About UC Davis



The University of California, Davis (UC Davis) has more than 30,000 students and stretches over 2,000 hectares. A comprehensive university with more than 100 majors, UC Davis consists of schools, colleges and divisions of Letters and Science, Engineering, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences, Law, Management, Medicine and Veterinary Medicine. Ranked as one of the top 12 research institutions in the country, UC Davis supports numerous laboratories and off-site facilities throughout the state. Its faculty is recognized worldwide for distinguished scholarly and scientific achievements.

Students come from all over the United States and from countries throughout the world to attend UC Davis. The academic year consists of three 11-week quarters. The fall quarter runs from late September to mid December; the winter quarter from early January to mid March; and the spring quarter from late March to mid June. In addition to its academic and research activities, the university boasts an excellent collection of sports facilities and a wide variety of student organizations and clubs that create an active and engaging student life. In fact, UC Davis has been ranked 14 out of 660 colleges in the country for fostering a healthy, "fit" lifestyle.

With a strong commitment to fostering lifelong learning, UC Davis Extension is the professional and continuing education provider for the University of California, Davis. The International English and Professional Programs (IEPP) offer a growing number of programs for international participants. UC Davis Extension also draws international participants to many of its more unique public courses, such as law, agriculture, information technology, business management, viticulture and brewing—in traditional classroom and online formats. Extension instructors are UC Davis faculty members and other professionals who are recognized for their expertise and contributions in their respective fields.
